The Australian Government Peter Hunt Eureka Prize for Environmental Journalism BusinessDay senior writer Ruth Williams and energy reporter Mathew Murphy have been awarded Australia's highest honour for environmental journalism. The pair won the Australian Government Peter Hunt Eureka Prize for Environmental Journalism for their series about greenwashing, which investigated the new green economy, carbon offsets and audits and the need for regulation in this emerging area. "There is confusion in the business community and among the general public about the new language of the green economy," Australian Museum director Frank Howarth said. "What does carbon offset really mean and can we believe the claims of a carbon neutral company? Murphy and Williams show us the urgent need for regulation of the green market." August 2008 |
