The World Championships will be held in Melbourne from March 17-April 1, 2007 and will feature the best swimming and aquatic athletes in the world.
More than 2000 athletes from 175 countries are expected to compete
in the World Championships making it one of the biggest international sporting events.
Announcing the partnership, the chairman of the 2007 World Swimming Championships Corporation Tony Beddison AO, said he was delighted that The Age will play a key role in the championships.
“The Age played an important part in the success of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games as partner for the volunteer and education programs and through its quality, comprehensive coverage. We are thrilled to have The Age on board for the 2007 World Swimming Championships and look forward to working together”.

Athletes will compete across five aquatic disciplines at three inner-city venues during the championships.
The Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre will host the diving and water polo program, the open water swimming will be held at St Kilda beach and the swimming and synchronised swimming will be staged at Rod Laver Arena.
